Research has shown that the method of infant delivery not only has an impact on the immediate health of the infant, but the overall health of the child as they grow and develop into adults. This paper analyzed many different research articles that looked into how infants born via caesarean section had a negative impact on their overall gut microbiome formation in comparison to the infants born vaginally. The studies also looked into how breastfed infants versus formula fed infants developed their gut microbiome, and how antibiotic exposure impacts infants in vitro.
